With all the talk of the recent regulatory and legislative changes around cannabis and CBD, the Coaches here have been putting in a lot of thought about the future state of cannabis industry products. Right now, its really a "keeping up with the Jonses" feeling trying to match all the new innovative, up and coming CBD products that are being brought to the market. Some of the CBD products you regularly see--CBD fortified drinks, supplements, pizza sauce, cocktails, oils, aromatherapy sprays, etc.--have been around for a while and are starting to be oversaturate the market. Essentially, CBD and THC products have become a commodity more than anything else. That's really a consequence of CBD being taken off of the Federal Controlled Substances Act banned substances list this past year and others foresight of THC becoming legalized at all levels--people are now incentivized more than ever to be creative with the products that they are putting out in the market.
Really, in the big picture of things, we believe that CBD and eventually legal cannabis will be bigger than the alcohol market. The innovators of this industry are trying to fit it into every type of ingestible and absorbable product out there. Some of the interesting products we are seeing come to market are CBD and THC laced kinesiology tape (which apparently is all about the glue), toothpicks, and full make-up lines from the base, to the primer, to even the eye shadow. Really the effectiveness of the CBD and THC in these products are minimal, but its now more about selling a cannabis based life style to people. However, in the mind of the Coaches, this is still small scale for the cannabis industry. Really what the big players (such as large financial institutions, investors and family offices) are looking to are the industrial use of cannabis and other hemp based products. As I'm sure you've heard, hemp is a green and more efficient source for a lot of industrial products used in the US such paper and paper based products and even things like an lighter and more durable alternative to the aluminum and/or carbon fiber frames used on cars in the US.
So, how does a company like us keep up with the big players out there? Well, that requires us to be innovative and look for creative ideas to bring new products to the market.
